Learn from pain

01-18-10 Monday
Pain is an indicator that something is wrong. It may be physical pain, emotional pain or spiritual pain, but whichever the type it is present to tell you something is wrong. I don’t think any of us enjoys or likes pain, but it is necessary at times in our lives. Without pain we would not realize that something is wrong and needs attention. When we experience pain there needs to be a change in us. Again, no matter what type of pain we are feeling it has a purpose. The key is finding the source of the pain and make the changes that need to be made. Pain is not fun and not enjoyable but it is a part of our lives.

Teacher, mentor, coach

01-17-10 Sunday
I find myself wanting someone who knows more than I do about what I want to do to come along beside me and mentor, teach, coach, and/or walk with me as I go. I have always been told that when the student is ready the teacher will be there. I am guessing the teacher was there all the time, but the student was not ready. I also believe that as we move from level to level in life that there will be someone there to guide us to the next level. The key to this I suppose is being teachable. When we are not teachable then there is no teacher. I am thinking this is all on my mind because I have been moving into new areas in my life such as writing, life coaching, and speaking. I suppose I am looking for that teacher, mentor, and/or coach in my life. It may be like, when you stop looking for something, like your keys, that is when you find them. All this to say, if you are moving to another level in your life, maybe a time of transition, be aware there will be someone there for you to help guide you.

live and love again

01-16-10 Saturday
Today is your day to break down and break through some barriers. What are the issues in your life that are keeping you from reaching your destiny? Well, it is time to break through those barriers and walls. It may not happen in one day, but it can start in one today. Why not today? What is stopping you from what is stopping you? Don’t let your past, mistakes, choices, circumstances, or people allow you to keep your walls and barriers up. Tear those walls and barriers down! You will never walk in your destiny as long as you have those barriers/walls in your life. Love and live again. Focus on the good and allow positive thoughts in your mind to guide you.

Forgive Today

01-15-10 Friday
It seems like we always come back to forgiveness and trust in everything we talk about. I can see where forgiveness is a vital key to our lives. The question that I feel today, for me, and for you, is ‘who in your life do you need to forgive’? They don’t have to ask for your forgiveness, they don’t even have to know you are holding unforgiveness against them, they don’t have to deserve it, and they don’t even have to be alive. As we have said, forgiveness is for you; not for them. By holding unforgiveness in our heart toward someone we don’t have control over them or the upper hand on them, but rather the unforgiveness is controlling us. Releasing that unforgiveness will enable you to live with peace in your life. It takes a strong person to forgive, but you have that strengthen. Forgive today!

The Power Twins

01-14-10 Thursday
We have mentioned trust and forgiveness quite a few times over the past year. I have sometimes gotten the two confused. However, I can see where forgiveness is about us and trust is about the other person. Forgiveness is what we give to someone, it does not affect them though, and it is all about us. Forgiveness deals with the past and should be quick and complete. We should live a lifestyle of forgiveness. Trust, on the other hand, is about the other person. Trust deals with the future. It is build by the other person and does take time to build or re-build, but it can be done. I see sometimes where we get trust and forgiveness confused or think they are the same thing. They do work together, but they are not the same. Forgiveness is for you and trust is for them. Forgiveness must come quickly, even if they don’t ask for it or even know about it. It is not about them; it is for you. Trust is a slower process for the most part. Trust is the bond that holds things together. Trust is for the other person in your life. Both are very important and must be maintained at all times. Trust and Forgiveness are definitely power twins.

Perspective and Paradigm

01-12-10 Tuesday
I was in a meeting yesterday with people from various backgrounds and the two things that I keep picking up on about folk dealing with life were; perspective and paradigm. In other words, the way we see things and the way we evaluate what we have seen. Seen is more than seeing with our eyes. It goes deep into how we evaluate (paradigm) things that we see and hear. It is as much physical as it is mental and even spiritual. Perspective and paradigm are very important in how we respond to situations. It is so important that we have a healthy perspective and that will lead to a healthy paradigm. This is why I keep stressing that we let go of the negative things in our life. Hurts, disappointments, unforgiveness, bitterness, anger, hate, rage, and so on will cause our perspective to be negative and our paradigms will also be negative. Working on these two aspects in our life will allow peace, joy, happiness, rest and such to be active in us.

I would rather have...

01-11-10 Monday
Having peace is much better than being in control. Having unity is much better than being first. Having joy is much better than the having the last word. Having rest is much better than having my way. I haven't always thought this way, but in the past few weeks and months my paradigms have begun to change. I had an experience yesterday where all of this came into play. I started out the old me, but quickly realized that that was not how I felt any longer; I don’t have to be in control or first or have the last word. I don’t have to be in charge any longer. There are more important things in life. I will go after peace, unity, joy and rest. Destiny is far more important to me than being right; even when I know I am wrong. I not only don’t care if I win an argument, but choose not to argue in the first place. There are better ways to handle a situation than arguing. You guys, I am sure, already know all this, but I am sometimes a slow learner, but I am learning.

Use your gift

01-09-10 Sunday
It’s Sunday morning, 15 degrees and no electricity. Where I grew up, way, way out in the country, our electricity went out about once a week it seemed like. Not so used to it now, but thank you Jesus for a gas log fireplace.
We all have an awesome gift/inside of us. It is that gift/talent that will lead you to your destiny. When you are using your gift/talent is when you feel the most alive right? That is the time you feel fulfillment; even when you make be exhausted. That is God’s way of letting know that you are walking in your destiny when you are operating in that gift/talent you were created to operate in. So don’t be discouraged, down, depressed, or confused. Do what you do best, what comes easy to you. Do what you were created to do and see what happens. That is when living really begins.

Load Lightener

01-09-10 Saturday
We were talking about seeing where you are going this year and I thought yesterday about seeing people as the really are in life. We sometimes think that other folk are just like us, and sometimes this is true. However, there are so many people in our lives that are hurting something terrible. Take the time to be a friend. You don’t have to go all out and do all sorts of stuff all the time, but a friend gesture would be very good. Take the time to listen to them when they talk, look people in the eyes; the eyes are the window to the soul. Smile at people! Be friendly. We all carry stuff inside of us that is weighing us down, but a friend will lighten the load. Be a load lightener today.

The one thing

01-08-10 Friday
When you doing what you were created to do and it seems to make no sense to anyone else at the time; don't be discouraged, because God knows what He designed you for and what He placed inside of you. Never doubt your gifting! Know that you have a divine purpose and destiny to walk out. You are an awesome creation and never, never let anyone tell you otherwise. You will find that you are frustrated when you are trying to do something that you were not created to do. Find your niche, what you are best at, what you love doing, and do that thing. Don’t be discouraged or frustrated; you have a distinct purpose. There is a purpose for your life and a plan for your life. Peace and joy will come when you are doing what you were created to do.

Teachable

01-07-09 Thursday
Being teachable is so important if we are going to grow, change, and mature. Those folk that fulfill their destiny are the ones that are humble and teachable. Only the humble will be teachable. Ever been around the person that just knows it all and doesn’t mind letting you know that they know it all? These people are usually not very humble or teachable. I love to learn, but I have not always been teachable. However, after seeing where this was leading me; I made the decision to be teachable. I did this by humbling myself. I realize that I don’t know it all and I can learn from others. By doing this I can see huge changes taking place in my life. So, make sure that you are teachable; if you aren’t sure if you are or not, check your humility level. To check your humility level; just ask a friend and they can tell you. Humility will enable you to be teachable which in turn enables you to grow, change and mature; which enables you to reach your destiny.

learn from it

01-06-10 Wednesday
Taking a step back today; I had been thinking about how we only seem to grow when we have been through adversity. Why is it that we say, “the best thing that ever happened to me was…” and then it is usually, not always mind you, but usually, something we would consider a bad thing. We grow through adversity, bad times, discouraging times, setbacks and so on. I rarely learn a thing from my successes, but oh my, I have learned volumes from my failures. I have failed so much that I have learned not to be a failure. Anyways, don’t despise the hard times in life; learn and grow from them. Make the necessary changes so that you don’t have to experience that particular circumstance again and move to the next level. Be teachable and learn, don’t repeat the same things over and over again. Life is school so treat it as such.

Take note

01-05-10 Tuesday
What is it that is holding you back or holding you down? What is it that is keeping you from walking in the fullness of your destiny; the fullness of your purpose? Do you find yourself frustrated with your life? Are you looking for that something, but can’t seem to find it? Then look at your vision and how you talk about yourself. We can never let ourselves from holding us back. The only way someone else can keep you from our destiny is if we let them. No one can make us feel inferior; unless we let them. No one can make us feel inadequate; unless we let them. No one can hurt our feelings; unless we let them. No one can make us feel like we aren’t good enough; unless we let them. This all depends on our vision and our words. We see and hear everything that we see and hear. It sounds too easy and simple, but it is true. Take note of your vision and your words throughout the day, because they add up to where we are heading.

Speak to it

01-04-10 Monday
We talked some about where are you going yesterday. We have mentioned where do you see yourself in a year. How about, ‘what are you saying about yourself and where you are going.’ Just as you have to be able to see where you are going; what you say about yourself will also determine how your destiny turns out. Check the words you are saying about yourself, your family, other folk, and your destiny. Even if you are ‘just joking’ be sure you aren’t being condescending when you talk. There is enormous power in our words, but we too often allow this power to work against us. Begin to speak to yourself (sounds better than talk to yourself) about your destiny and your family’s destiny. Speak positive words, uplifting words, encouraging words; even if you don’t see it yet, begin to talk it. Just like calling that dog; even though you don’t see him; you still call him. Well, do that to yourself and your destiny; you might not see it yet, but it’s out there waiting for you to call it in.

Set your course

01-03-10 Sunday
By keeping our vision and perspective clear we are able to see where we are going. This is both a physical truth, a mental truth, and a spiritual truth. So the question I have for myself and you is this; ‘where do you see yourself going,’? At the beginning of ’11 where do you want to be physically, mentally, and spiritually? The choice is so up to us; we have more to do with this than we believe sometimes. Do you see yourself improving in all areas or getting worse? Staying the same would be worse? Not growing, changing, or learning would not be a good thing in our lives. There was a tribe in South America that would curse their enemies by saying, ‘my you always stay the same.’ They meant their enemies would never grow, learn or change.
So let’s set our course for our destiny. See where you are supposed to be in a year from now. Stake your claim and let’s move forward toward our destiny in ’10.

Clear the way

01-02-10 Saturday
As we begin our walk into ’10; we have to keep our vision and perspective clear. When our vision and perspective get distracted and altered we get off course and our attitude gets messed up. Attitude, perspective and vision will keep us in line toward our destiny in ’10. Let’s be like Teflon rather than Velcro when it comes to the negative, hurtful, disappointing, and bad stuff that tries to get inside us and change our attitude, perspective, and vision. Don’t let that mess get inside you. Live a lifestyle of forgiveness to prevent things from sticking. We can reach our destination for this year, but only if we stay on course. We can do this together; you and me, you and others, all of us together working together. We have a destiny, a purpose, a reason for being here; don’t let that go to waste.

Happy New Year

01-01-10 Friday
Happy New Year! I really hope that none of us brought any of the negative stuff from ’09 into ’10. In order for this year to be our best year ever; then we have to do something or some things differently than we have been doing. If we continue to do the same stuff the same way then we will get the same results. Change some habits today. Make sure all the mess is gone from your mind and heart. I know some things are a process; well start the process and continue it each day.
I desire that we all move to another level this year in our destiny. I truly believe this can happen when we all start working with each other and stop fighting with each other. Destiny is not a singular word; it is plural, meaning it includes all of us. So we really have to work together and stop hurting each other.
